How Dripify Handles Bounced Emails

Written by Alex Terez

A bounced email is an email that failed to reach the recipient – usually because the address is invalid, inactive, or the recipient's mail server rejected it. Monitoring bounces matters: sending emails to invalid or inactive addresses repeatedly can damage your sender reputation and increase the risk of your domain being flagged as spam.

What happens when a bounced email is detected

When Dripify detects that an email to a lead has bounced, this lead is counted as Bounced for the related Send email step. The Bounce and Delivery rates are updated for this step.

Dripify stops email sending for this lead in this sequence.

The lead is not failed and continues moving through the sequence, skipping Send email steps only (Dripify still performs LinkedIn steps, such as Send invite, Message, Like post, etc. Dripify also performs Find email steps for this lead). If all subsequent sequence actions are Send email, the lead is moved to the End of sequence and becomes Completed.

In a lead card, you can see a bounced status next to the email address that returned a bounce. An email icon is orange and the email address is grey:

A tooltip shows on hover:

If the lead is added to another campaign that includes Send email steps, Dripify will automatically use a different email address from the lead card if one is available.
