Domain Setup

Learn how to check your SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records in Dripify and fix potential email authentication issues.

Written by Marie F.

Properly configured DNS records help email providers verify that your messages are legitimate, reducing the risk of your outreach emails being marked as spam or failing to reach recipients.

Every email provider checks three DNS records before it trusts your email: SPF, DKIM, and DMARC. If any of them is missing or set up incorrectly, your emails are more likely to go to spam or not be delivered at all.

With Dripify's Domain setup feature, you can see each record's status in one place and quickly fix anything that needs attention.

Who needs to set up DNS records?

DNS configuration applies only to corporate email addresses, such as [email protected].

If you're using a personal Gmail or Outlook address (for example, [email protected]), your email provider manages these records for you. No additional DNS configuration is required.

How to check your DNS records in Dripify

  1. Go to “Account settings”.

  2. Click “Email account”.

  3. Find the “Domain setup” section. It appears once your email account is connected.

Here, you'll see three DNS records and their current statuses:

  • SPF (Sender Policy Framework) – lists the servers that are allowed to send emails from your domain.

  • DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) – adds a digital signature to your emails, helping recipients verify that messages haven't been altered in transit.

  • DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance) – tells receivers what to do with emails that fail SPF or DKIM checks.

Each record displays one of two statuses:

  • All good – the record is configured correctly. No action is needed.

  • Failed – the record is missing or incorrectly configured and requires attention.

If at least one record has a Failed status, you'll see a Fix now button.

We recommend addressing any failed records to improve email authentication and reduce potential deliverability issues.

How to fix DNS configuration issues

💡 Important: Dripify can identify DNS configuration issues but cannot modify your DNS records. Changes must be made through your domain's DNS provider, such as Cloudflare or GoDaddy.

To get started, click Fix now in the Domain setup section.

You'll see two options depending on who manages your domain.

Option 1: You manage your domain yourself

If you have access to your domain's DNS settings:

  • Click “Open domain provider”;

  • We'll detect your domain provider (for example, Cloudflare or GoDaddy) and take you straight to it;

  • Log in and update the record.

For guidance, see the instructions for each record below.

Option 2: Your IT team manages your domain

If you don't have access to your domain's DNS settings:

  • Click “Copy message for IT team”;

  • A ready-to-send message is copied to your clipboard. It explains which record failed and what needs to be fixed;

  • Paste it into an email or chat to your IT team or tech person.

Your IT team can then review and update the necessary records.

How to set up each record

DNS configuration steps vary depending on your domain provider and email service.

Generally, you'll need to log in to your DNS provider, locate the DNS settings or DNS records section, and add or update the required records.

Below is an overview of how each record is configured.

SPF

  • Host / Name: @

  • Value for Google Workspace: v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com ~all

  • Value for Microsoft 365: v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com -all

💡 Your domain can have only one SPF record. If one already exists, edit it instead of adding a new one.

DKIM

  • First, generate your DKIM key in your email provider's admin panel: in Google Workspace, go to Apps → Google Workspace → Gmail → Authenticate email; in Microsoft 365, open the Defender portal → Email authentication settings → DKIM.

  • Then add the record it gives you (host name and value) to your domain provider.

  • Go back to your email provider and click “Start authentication” (Google) or turn on DKIM signing (Microsoft).

DMARC

There are three DMARC policies to choose from:

  • p=none – Monitoring only

  • p=quarantine – Quarantines suspicious emails

  • p=reject – Rejects emails that fail authentication

💡 Make sure you set up DKIM and SPF before setting up DMARC.

How to recheck your DNS records

Once you or your IT team have updated the records, you can check their status again in Dripify.

  1. Go to Account settings → Email account.

  2. Find the Domain setup section.

  3. Click Recheck to run another DNS verification.

Dripify will update the displayed statuses based on the latest check. You can also see when the last DNS check was performed.

💡 After you click “Recheck”, the button becomes available again in 1 hour. Please note that DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to apply.

When does Dripify check DNS records?

Dripify checks your DNS configuration:

  • Automatically, every time you connect a new email account;

  • Manually, whenever you click “Recheck”.

Dripify doesn't continuously monitor DNS records in the background. If you make changes to your domain settings, use Recheck to get the latest status.
