How to Automatically Unfollow Leads

Learn how to add the Unfollow action to your campaign sequence to keep your LinkedIn feed clean after outreach.

Written by Anna from Dripify

If a lead has Follow instead of Connect as their primary profile action, you'll automatically start following them the moment you send an invite — even if they never accept it. The Unfollow action removes these follows automatically, so you don't have to unfollow each profile manually.

How to Add the Unfollow Action

  1. Open your campaign's sequence builder.

  2. Click + Add and select Unfollow from the list of actions

  3. The action has no additional settings and doesn't open a details pop-up — just place it where you need it in the sequence.

Use Cases

Unfollow a lead who isn't accepting your invite

If a lead's profile made you follow them (Follow as primary action) and they're not accepting your connection request, unfollow them and withdraw the invite:

Follow → Send invite → Not accepted → Withdraw invite → Unfollow

Unfollow right after a lead accepts your invite

Keep your feed clean as soon as you connect with someone new:

Send invite → Lead accepts → Unfollow

When You Can't Add This Action

Unfollow can only be added if, at that point in the sequence, the lead is followed or their follow status is unknown. You can't add Unfollow again after:

  • Unfollow

  • Unfollow → Follow → Unfollow

  • Unfollow → Send invite (accepted) → Unfollow

It can be added after any other sequence, including Follow, Send invite (not accepted), and Unfollow → Follow.

If Unfollow Fails

If Dripify can't unfollow a lead, the step is simply skipped and the lead continues through the rest of the sequence — no error, no interruption.
